writing and pottery
Writing and pottery seems to anchor me into my thoughts as I dig deep into the heart and layers of my ideas.
Eventually these spaces enter into my pottery as I lay my hands on each piece of clay turning it on the wheel I began to make.
Pottery and writing are a process. In pottery I cut and began to weigh and wedge to get the air bubbles out and mix the elements together. Weighing the clay helps me to determine the project I will be working on. Sometimes I wedge a piece of clay into a ball and began to throw on the wheel generally my go to will be a mug or a bowl to warm up. But, I am always experimenting.
Writing also has a layer of learning to it. Generally I get inspired by something and began the process of researching. A yellow highlighter and black pen will always be nearby as I extract words and phrases or quotes that speak to me in a book. This part is the most enjoyable part in learning. I began to hear my voice in writing and what draws me into the conversations.
